FOR TODAY Monday September 27, 2010

Outside my window... a beautiful Fall day in Florida(LOL that's for you Nathalie)

I am thinking... a must have scheduled a light day since we are finished with our school already

I am thankful for... no longer having pain in my hip/legs

From the learning rooms... trying to figure out how to do all (or even some) of the recommended reading for SOTW when most of the books are above our level and all I have to read aloud

From the kitchen... yeah going out to dinner tonight. We tried this yesterday but M was sick to her stomach in the morning so we were stuck at home.

I am wearing... wow I am actually fully dressed this morning... brown shorts, blue shirt and brushed my hair and everything :)

I am creating... a spare "bedroom" in the converted garage. I still need my landlord to come more their exercise machine but I am running out of time

I am going... to the library as soon as I get motivated

I am reading... nothing at the moment. I think my reading summer may be turning into a movie fall

I am hoping... that my family doesn't destroy anything with the model rocket they are currently building

I am hearing... J teach the kids science

Around the house... trying to get my household planner in order and a weekly cleaning schedule

One of my favorite things... Big Fish Games

A few plans for the rest of the week... Park, Enrichment Classes, Ballet (the usual)

Here is picture I am sharing... Maggie's Butterfly garden... waiting on the reveal

Friday Five: Sleeping

1. When is your usual bedtime? between 10 and 11

2. How many hours of sleep do you need? a lot! I usually wake up between 7 and 8 so probably 9 hours

3. Do you usually remember your dreams? yes, usually

4. How many pillows do you sleep with? 3

5. What is the wildest dream you've ever had? Well, I've had A LOT. I have really crazy dreams. I might not be able to post my craziest, but last night was a weird one. I was on a city bus filled with drug dealers and other criminals. They shot the bus driver and hijacked the bus. I managed to text my Dad who is a retired Deputy Sheriff. Then skip forward (a lot of time travel in my dreams) my Dad has arrested everyone, but got shot. Now somehow my husband is driving to Chicago with a friend to start his new job that he took without discussing with me. (The dream was a lot more convoluted, but that is the condensed version).

Outside my window... a walk calling my name, that I can't quite get accomplished

I am thinking... that I need to get the kids moving if we are going to finish up our schoolwork before bedtime

From the kitchen... turkey burgers, green beans and salads

I am wearing... my PJs (blush)

I am creating... some math games for Maggie

I am going... happily, no where

I am reading... just finished a terrible book by Karen Robards, but I also reserved more of her books because I can't help myself.... I have this weird internal drive to now finish all of her books - it's a curse.

I am hoping... that I make my weight loss goal before my November cruise

I am hearing... the kids argue over their pretend Star Wars spaceship

Around the house... messes everywhere

One of my favorite things... my TV tray that I use for my daily homeschool agenda

Outside my window... salespeople for a home-protection company whose opening line was "there is a lot of crime in your neighborhood" BYE BYE

I am creating... nothing at the moment

I am going... to MNO tomorrow with my good friend Nathalie

I am reading... a new book from the library, but I have been in a dry spell for about a week with nothing to read

I am hoping... that my own hip heals soon. I am feeling much better, but I am still having hip and leg pain.

I am hearing... Maggie trying to get someone to help her play The Sims

Around the house... things are looking pretty good, but it really needs a good cleaning

One of my favorite things... sadly I can't even answer this at the moment, but one of my LEAST favorite things is Windows Live Mail

A few plans for the rest of the week... the hubby is taking a few days off so we are hoping to go to the zoo and a water park. Maybe I should check the weather?

Here is picture I am sharing...

(this is appropriate since there are currently no other pictures on my laptop)

Mrs. Dr. House

Just call me Mrs. House today because that is what I feel like. I realize why he is such a miserable old coot. I have been in pain for 3 days and I feel like biting everyones head off. And oddly enough, my pain runs down my leg and I find myself rubbing it like Dr. House does. I feel old and miserable. The person who cut me off driving today is lucky to be in one piece.

DH joked and said "should I get you a cane?" I readily agreed and added that I was NOT joking. I had to have help getting out of bed this morning because of the pain in my leg. I am hoping the pain will improve soon. I did go to a chiropractor yesterday and, despite a terrible bedside manner, she was able to relieve my pain. Unfortunately my bed only managed to increase my misery.

So, to all of you out there with long term pain, I'm sorry, and I hope you are not as miserable as Dr. House.

7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol. 4)

1.
I am in pain. Something happened to my hip on "errand day." I think it was too much walking in unsupportive shoes, but now I am in pain. Actually I was feeling slightly better yesterday, but a very restless night left me in severe of pain.

2.
I hate my computer. Actually this is not a new feeling. I have hated my computer for over a year, but just when I think things are going smoothly WHAM. DH was nice enough to update my computer, but in the process things mysteriously disappeared. I backed my computer up about 3 different ways before the update, so this is a mystery. I also have the habit of forgetting about my mail issues when I do a backup.

3.
I have at least 5 email addresses. If you don't have multiple email addresses then you probably think I'm nuts. If you do have them, then you might understand. What started out as an organizational issue has spiraled out of control. It is a problem. It is why I use an email program rather than using web based email. It is why I spent all day Sunday cursing at my computer. I have resolved to get rid of a couple, but I can't figure out which ones would cause the least confusion.

4.
My daughter can't count. Our current weekly homeschool issues involve a girl who can add, but can't seem to keep her numbers straight. If I could just figure out what is blocking the comprehension in her mind, maybe I could be more helpful.

5.
My son is on a mission... to earn some Star Wars figurines currently sitting in our closet. We have tried so many different chore/reward systems over the past 8 years that I can't even remember them all. Most of them have failed because DS is not motivated by money. This is great, in a way, but we are still trying to teach him the value of a dollar. So we invented a token/money system. Last month he finally earned enough money to buy a Wii game (it took him several months) and he is currently trying to earn $7 for the figurines. He looses interest pretty quickly (in the earning, not the reward).

6.
DH has joined my weight loss plan. Actually he has been on the plan for about a month now and is doing very well. He had actually lost around 15 lbs before starting this plan so he has already went down a pants size.

7.
I am not a "car schooler"
. Frankly, I don't know how these other families do it. Actually I understand that many people function well "on the go." We just don't happen to be one of these families. Well, DD would love it. However balancing her "on the go" needs with DS and my "stay at home" needs is always a constant battle. Right now we have a park/errand day on Wed and then all day Enrichment Classes on Thursday. That is too much for T and me. But for the time being I cannot change either of those days. We will suffer thru for 6 weeks and then readjust our schedule.
