The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY Monday September 10, 2012

Outside my window... darkness

I am thinking... that I wish I was still sleeping

I am thankful for... my son who got up yesterday and made everyone breakfast

From the learning rooms... I have a new motto for the year:  "Character not Curriculum."  On the days I remember the motto things go well.  Sometimes and I forget and stress everyone out.  Overall though this has started as a much better year than how we ended things in the spring.

From the kitchen... Steak for the grown-ups and hot dogs for the kids.

I am wearing... pajamas of course, especially since I had no intention of being awake right now

I am creating... a monthly menu

I am going... to Magic Kingdom if the rain holds off

I am reading... Nothing... I managed to read 2 books last week though.

I am hoping... that Lilly gets over the sleep issue she has had for the last week.

I am hearing... Lilly playing with books and silence from the rest of the house

Around the house...  The house is a mess, as usual.  Unless we get rained out today it will remain a mess for another day.

One of my favorite things..I always have loved my gel pens.

A few plans for the rest of the week... This is our first week back at co-op and my first time teaching a class.  Next weekend Tyler and Jeff are planning a camping trip with the Boy Scouts.

The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY Monday July 30, 2012

Outside my window... beautiful sunny day

I am thinking... that it has been a really long time since I posted on my blog

I am thankful for... my husband who does the grocery shopping

From the learning rooms... I had planned on starting school August 1st, but we will have to delay the date.  Tyler unexpectedly got the opportunity to spend a couple weeks in Ohio.  Frankly, I am still not properly prepared so it will all work out in the end.

From the kitchen... Turkey burgers and salads tonight for dinner.

I am wearing... ahh I am actually dressed... yoga pants and a nice shirt.

I am creating... a daily schedule for our back to school week

I am going... to take Maggie to the dentist in about an hour

I am reading... Nothing... I can't seem to find the time

I am hoping... that Lilly will miraculously become a better napper before school starts

I am hearing... Lilly yelling at me and scooting around on the floor

Around the house...  I am trying to do some deep cleaning of floors today.  I have the main rooms swept and mopped, but trying to clean the dirt the baby keeps finding.

One of my favorite things... I am really liking the Keurig and the Green Mountain K Cups.

A few plans for the rest of the week..We are hoping to meet some friends at the new Banana Jacks that opened locally.  I also promised Maggie I would take her swimming a couple days.

The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY Monday April 23, 2012

Outside my window... Jeff gardening and a cool but sunny sky.

I am thinking... that I should get moving if I want to make it to Wal Mart and the eye doctor

I am thankful for... a spare moment to finally write a blog post after 2 months of no posting

From the learning rooms... We have about 35 days left to finish out our school year.  I was hoping to be done by June this year because we all really need a break with the baby.  Also, I really need to start our next school year at the beginning of August again because of a planned extended trip to Ohio in the fall.

From the kitchen... We are either having fajitas or turkey burgers.

I am wearing... my pajamas still.

I am creating... a reorganized pantry.  Even though Nathalie inspired me with her pantry makeover many moons ago, I have not managed to execute my own until now.

I am going... to pick up my new bifocals (that makes me feel old) and hopefully stop by Wal Mart for some quick pantry accessories.

I am reading... a John Grishom book that I need to really focus on before the library repossess it

I am hoping... that I manage to accomplish my whole to do list and school work today

I am hearing... Lilly talking to herself in the swing and M and T fighting over my old phone

Around the house...  Well my floor hasn't been swept since my Mom left over a week ago.  I guess I should be doing that now instead of writing this post.

One of my favorite things..my Keurig coffee maker I found on Craig's List.  It takes up too much counter space and sometimes it is a pain, but it really does make the most delicious cup of coffee.  Yummy

A few plans for the rest of the week..Shopping, Co-Op, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and park day

The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY Monday February 20, 2012

Outside my window... Maggie playing with the neighbor and his new dog.

I am thinking... about how I can accomplish all I need to do with a baby in tow

I am thankful for... the sleep I got last night

From the learning rooms... We finally started to add our main history curriculum back in this week.  I am not sure how quickly we will get thru it, but at least we are moving forward.

From the kitchen... Jeff is making a salad and steaks as I write this.

I am wearing... yoga pants and a long sleeved T-shirt

I am creating... not alot.  I am leery to start trying to get anything new done so I am just trying to clean up the messes and piles from the past month.

I am going... to my 6 week follow up appointment tomorrow and possibly take myself to lunch.

I am reading... nothing, although my Mom keeps handing me books and telling me how good they are.  Then she rolls her eyes at me when I tell her I don't have time to read.

I am hoping... the baby doesn't scream on my drive tomorrow

I am hearing... Maggie outside, the dryer buzzing and my Mom making lots of racket with the dishes

Around the house...  I really didn't get a whole lot done today despite the baby sleeping alot.  I did manage to wash my diapers and make the bed.

One of my favorite things..my bed which has felt extra comfortable the past several day

A few plans for the rest of the week..PE, Co-Op and park day as usual.  Also an appointment tomorrow and Jeff is running his first 5K on Saturday.

The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY Monday February 6, 2012

Outside my window... Sunny and warm

I am thinking... about how I have been trying to post a Daybook since the beginning of January. I am hoping I actually finish this one today.

I am thankful for... all the baby items people have given me

From the learning rooms... We started back to half days last week.  We are focusing on the 3 Rs and putting off our main curriculum/history for another month or until I feel like we can accomplish it.

From the kitchen... We have been super blessed to receive a bunch of meals from other homeschooling moms.  We have had a couple different kinds of soup, chicken alfredo pasta and even a couple great desserts.  This weekend Jeff and I made a bunch of different soups.  Tonight we are going out to dinner.

I am wearing... my pajamas and a cardigan because I am cold

I am creating... more "to-do" lists... just because I can.  Oh, and also, because it is something I can easily do on my phone while holding a baby.

I am going... to pick  my Mom up from the airport

I am reading... nothing, who has time for that right now

I am hoping... the baby sleeps for an hour so I can get some of the things on my To-Do list completed

I am hearing... the kids laughing at a cartoon and the baby swing creaking

Around the house...  I just spent the morning cleaning up some messes that I am not sure why exist.  Isn't that why I have a "helper" living with me?

One of my favorite things..my specialty breastfeeding pillow I bought when I had Maggie.  I had loaned it to my SIL and asked her to return it but she never did.  Luckily she managed to find it after I asked again.  It is not the traditional "bobby" but a softer more flexible pillow and both Lillian and I prefer it to nurse with.

A few plans for the rest of the week... Tyler has PE and the kids have Co-Op on Thursday.  I am not sure if we will make it to the park on Friday.  The baby has a doctor appointment on Friday also.  Tomorrow is my birthday and I am taking the kids to see "Pinkalicious" at the theater downtown.
